Welcome to Accounting I & II
CP Accounting I covers the principles and procedures for recording transactions using double-entry accounting and the reporting of month-end and year-end financial statements. This course presents the complete accounting cycle for a service business organized as a proprietorship and an introduction to a merchandising business organized as a partnership. Opportunities are provided using actual businesses to demonstrate how the accounting content applies to today’s business world, and focuses on cultural diversity, careers, math applications, and ethical decision making. Technology integration is used throughout the course to provide students with computerized accounting experience. COLLEGE CAREER PATHWAYS students receive QVCC college credit upon successful completion of CP Accounting I & II.
CP Accounting II is an advanced course for students interested in a career requiring accounting skills. This course presents the complete accounting cycle for a merchandising business organized as a corporation. Topics covered are accounting for uncollectible accounts receivable, plant assets and depreciation, inventory, notes and interest, accrued revenue and expenses, distribution of dividends and end-of-fiscal-period work for a corporation. Students apply what they have learned as they analyze business performance in all aspects of operations using financial statements. Students complete accounting simulations designed to give them a realistic experience in maintaining accounting records for a business. Opportunities are provided using actual businesses to demonstrate how the accounting content applies to today’s business world, and focuses on cultural diversity, careers, math applications, and ethical decision making. Technology integration is used throughout the course to provide students with computerized accounting experience. COLLEGE CAREER PATHWAYS students receive QVCC college credit upon successful completion of CP Accounting II.
Students in Accounting will be using a website called Aplia for most assignments as well as Edmodo. If you are a parent and would like access to the parent portion of Edmodo please send me an email and I can set that up for you.
